Hello world!

I am a young mum studying a Bachelor of Applied Economics at Massey University.  The aim of this blog is to get as many people as possible to band together to help keep New Zealand Kids Safe.  By this I mean, I really want you all to take a good look at the children in our society, there are so many children suffering from domestic violence, sexual abuse and bullying.  We need to show these kids that there is help out there for them.  That they don’t have to stay quiet, and they do have a voice.  Children are the leaders of tomorrow and it is so essential that we give them the best start in life so that they do not become our future criminals and delinquents.  The things that happen to them in life will shape them for the future, so we need to stop child abuse and furthermore correct the law so that it puts children first.  By this I mean that the current law does not do enough to deter child abuse offenders.  For example there is Bert Potter, a serial paedophile who for decades sexually abused children.  All he got was 7 and a half years in prison.  This is not good enough.  All those children he abused will suffer for life from the after effects of his abuse.  They were vulnerable and violated because of that.  If the government can’t protect our children who can.  WE ALL CAN.  We just need to make the choice to do something about this.  A child’s well-being is fundamental to our Society being a better and happier place now and in the future.
